The Hidalgo County Historical Commission (HCHC) exists to advise the county Commissioners Court and assist the Texas Historical Commission in the preservation of our historic and cultural resources in Hidalgo County.  The HCHC is responsible for identifying, researching, and reviewing all applications for state historical markers in the county, and for coordinating marker dedication ceremonies as well as marker maintenance.  The HCHC is also responsible for the preservation of countless historic sites, buildings, artifacts, documents, and other pieces of history in Hidalgo County.
