ELECTIONS DEPARTMENT GETS APPROVAL OF WAGE INCREASE FOR POLL WORKERS

Commissioners Court unanimously approved a wage increase for poll workers. The increase in wage coincides with the demands and influx of responsibilities that the workers face during Election season, said Elections Administrator Yvonne Ramon.

Election Judges pay was increased to $14 per hour. Those serving as Alternative Judge/Clerk will now receive $12 per hour, and all election workers will be paid $10 per hour during training.

“Hopefully the increase in wage will serve as an incentive and encourage people," said County Judge Ramon Garcia. "The responsibility of Election Judges are demanding prior, during and post elections."

This wage increase does not apply to elections conducted by Political Parties. Contractual Election Service Agreements will reflect the hourly rate if accepted.
